I have recently splashed out on an Ampeg 610hlf. Sounds sweet, super stoked with it and I'm running an Orange TB500 with it along with a 60th anniversary American jazz. This is my first head/cab setup and it's also my first interaction with casters.
The 610 has two on the back that touch the ground when you tilt the cab. They don't pivot or swivel at all so rattling isn't really an issue. But I'm wondering - what's the life span of a stock ampeg caster? I'm reluctant to move the cab along any rough bitumen, I try to stick to smooth pavement when I can. Is it worth avoiding even minimal contact with rough surfaces or is the occasional rough surface not going to cause too much damage?
