Just Got a MacBook!

Hey, congrats on moving over to the right computers/os ;)

Anyway, if you use AIM, you should check out Adium. Much more powerful than AIM, and looks better to boot. I also prefer it to ichat and the others.

Also, if you are looking to back up all of your music off of an ipod, you should look into Senuti, it's a great program that let's you skip all that "one computer only" stuff and you can keep your music on multiple computers.

hey guys,

was wondering if you guys could steer me to some sites that'll help a PC guy like me get used to my new macbook?

also, any freeware sites i can check out as well? mucho gracias!

Booooooooooooooo
If you are a PC guy then why get a MacBook?
Well, make sure you spend at least 1 hr a day cleaning your MacBook, if it got a tiny black dot size of a pinpoint on it, it's worthless.

Best of luck! (sarcasm)

A few freeware programs that I use on my Mac and that I find pretty useful are:

SuperDuper - recovery/backup software.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - a maintenance/utility program.

The Gimp - an image manipulation program.

Link Removed - chat program.

VLC Media Player - obviously a media player.

I have a bunch of other stuff like some LaTeX programs, Octave, Xcode but their more for technical purposes. You can look at a lot of programs on Apple's website.

i didn't know about adium, just checked it out and loved it.

this has a better interface AND you can format away messages.

which was a BIG feature that iChat was lacking, imo.

the macbook's have that low of a battery life?

try dimming your screen when you're on battery, or not running as many apps.

i'm on my iBook and i'm really only actively running two apps, safari and adium. i've been on battery for about an hour and a half now and i still have 3 hours left in battery.

maybe that's why its "refurbished"? :hmm: or it could be the bazillion widgets i have running. ;)
