Congrats on a great deal! I made a similar purchase last summer. I bought a CL that had been toured around Canada pretty extensively. I stripped the previous owner's band name off the tolex, cleaned it up, replaced the missing feet and a few knobs. Then I took it to a tech to have all the tube sockets re-soldered and a new fan installed. I put a set of Winged C power tubes in it and never looked back.

A piece of advice that I picked up from a backline company... print instructions onto the top and sides of the road case in bold letters with a red sharpie: THIS CASE ALWAYS RIDES ON THE FLOOR WHEN IN TRANSIT. Despite being in a road case, the amp can still get damaged if it falls off of another case when it's in the trailer. Piling cases on top of it won't hurt it as long as your case is tough.

So basically this head is in great shape but whenever its plugged in and playing the sound goes from regular volume to low volume. Now that sounds like a power tube issue but the tubes were replaced very recently, so tells me my friend who sold it to me. I don't have a cab at home to try and check out the lights in the back but I will tomorrow. Could it be anything else? I was thinking a transformer issue but I don't see the symptoms for that.
