I have never seen a Dingwall in real life but I'm intrigued ... I just wonder how different it would be to play a fanned fret neck, and if it is difficult to switch between instruments if you also use traditional instruments?

Just how different is playing fanned frets?

Not much different at all actually. Visually it's a little wierd, but it's not really any different than a std bass. If anything it's a little more ergonomic in the mid and lower neck region. The upper register above about the 14th fret was a little different due to the angle of the frets but took no time to get used to. Switching back and forth between basses wasn't an issue.

You honestly wouldn't even notice the difference when playing unless you do chords/doublestops and tapping. The adjustment time was about 10 seconds for me when playing normally.
Until you actually hold one it's pretty difficult to imagine how they would be to play, but the first time I tried one out I adjusted to playing it within 5 minutes and it was great. I found it was easier to play without looking at the neck to begin with.
I was at GC yesterday and they had just gotten a used Dingwall Super Jazz in. I have wanted to play one since I first saw one so I plugged it in and it was one of the most comfortable bass I've ever played. I had never played a fanned fret before and it took absolutely no time to get used to
