Mike Arnopol recently built a 9.3 pound 1x8 cab using a high-end 8" neodymium woofer that has enough output cabability to work well for a small gig. I'm familiar with the woofer he's using, and it is killer in this application.
Anyway, here's a link to Mike's post in another thread, where he has pictures. You'll also find a subsequent post about a 15.75 pound 1x12 cab that is truly a little monster:
