just making sure

I'm pretty sure i've got all my facts straight but i just wanted to double check, i just bought an avatar neo410 8 ohm cabinet and a qsc rmx1850HD which rates at 900 watts bridged. So i just push the bridged button the the qsc and just run from channel 1 into the cabinet and i'm pretty much good to go?

I'm not sure about that particular model QSC, but they usually require that you have a specifically wired speakon cable to operate a QSC power amp in bridged mono mode. Your typical speakon cable will come wired +1 positive, -1 negative. You'll need to open up the end of your speakon cable and re-wire it such that its +1 positive, +2 negative. This is a VERY simple operation that requires nothing more than a phillips head screwdriver.

DO NOT take my word for it. Consult your owner's manual first. My PLX1602 had a very clear description of the speakon wiring needed to make bridge mode operation possible.

I saw what you were talking about in the manual, but my question is do you rewire both sides, or just the side that goes into the poweramp

if you pay attention to how your speakers sound youll be fine. im planning on running 700 watts into my 300 watt cab.

its headroom, its fine, as long as you arent stupid about it. you will hear the speakers when they had enough, and also if your clipping that is something too.

youll be fine.

that's what i thought, i'm definately not going to be dumb, i just like to know the headroom's there even if i don't need or am not going to use it.

It looks to me like in dual mono mode you have 1+/1- and in bridged mode you have 1+/2+. In other words these speakon connectors are a pain in the ass and you'll have to do some wiring to use this thing bridged. I'm getting the impression that this sort of thing is common, why exactly do people like these things?

actually i already rewired the cable, it was super easy, took a whole 3 minutes to do.

Cool, I still wonder about the whole speakon concept where you would need to do something like this. What happens if you plug in the modified cable when using this thing dual mono? You'd have the hot side of both poweramps in phase running to each side of the speaker. That can't be good, can it?

ya i'm sure that would short something out, cuz in stead of corresponding positive and negative, you running 2 positives to pos/neg so maybe at best the amp would fault out
