man, you got a nice first bass for a nice price. much better than my first bass.
about your headphone practice amp. the only possible problem you could have is that the signal could be too much and distort the amp. if that's the case, just turn down your volume knob on the bass. it's as easy as that.

only other thing i would say is after you've been plunking on it for a while and figure out if you like light or medium strings... take it to a good luthier and get it setup and dialed in with the strings you like. you'll be a happy man.
