Double Bass K&K Bass Master Pro for and EUB?

Hi everybody! I may have a good deal on an electric upright but the bass has no pick-up. There's a K&K Bass Master Pro for sale right here and I was wondering if it could be a good pick-up for an EUB. The bass has a "standard" 41,5" string length from nut to bridge and a small acoustic chamber but with a "stick" design.

Anyone has any idea if it could work?

The main thing that might limit its use would be the bridge design... whether or not the Bass Max portion of the pickup will fit into the bridge wings without serious modification. The Double Big Twin elements will most likely fit onto the bridge somewhere (they attach with a double-sided adhesive).... as Francois said, pics of the bridge in particular would help. How it would all sound is anyone's guess. Ideally, you could get your hands on the pickup and the bass, and try before you buy.

I have an Azola EUB with a single-element Bass Max (along with a bridge piezo pickup), and it sounds fantastic. I've also owned a plywood double bass with the Bass Master Pro mounted, and found it to be a very versatile, good sounding system.

PS.... interesting that an EUB would have no pickup. :hmm:

I did a lot of experiments with my Carruthers EUB to get a better tone, and found the solution only a few weeks ago.
I tried several pickups and elements placement before I find something that works.
Solid-body (or quasi-solid) piezo amplification can be quite tricky!

The thing is that the EUB is without a PU and a bridge (in a "project like state" as I understand it. So I cannot play, less hear the bass. But it is very well build (great ebony fingerboard and mohagany chamber) and very cheap. I'd be willing to put the money on the bass, a bridge and a PU system (and would still get a great deal out of it). I'll get the bass to a luthier to figure to kind of bridge I can mount on it and go from there, I guess. And, as François said, I'm sure a lot of testing will be needed to get to tone I want...

The size and nature of the bridge will determine if the Bass Max side of the BMP system will meet the need.

The wing insert point must be at least the usual distance from the top of the bridge, if not, a single wing pickup will favor the pair of strings on that side. So, if it is a sufficient distance, it could do well.

Notice that the Azola "tombstone" style bridge has the slot much lower in the bridge than a traditional wing, and if it has the second wing pickup further up the other side there are volume controls for each so the response can be balanced.
