Double Bass K&K preamp very low volume

Has anyone discovered how low the 9v battery can go before the sound starts to suffer with either distortion or volume loss? I thought my volume was low at a gig on Wed. night and I measured the battery at 8.2 v when I got home. I'm thinking that at 8.2, she's done. Anyone else experiment with the battery decay and the pre amp.

It depends upon the device. On many pedalboard power bricks, like the Pedal Power that I use, there is actually a "sag" option whereby you can reduce the 9v power to simulate the distortion and clipping that come with batteries that are worn out. For some pedals, it makes quite a difference. For others, everything is fine until a certain point where they just stop working.

I get a little freaked out about 9 volt batteries in my K&K so I replace it for every gig. Back in the day I used to use an old Boss EQ pedal and it ate batteries like candy. I got around it with an AC adapter eventually, but they didn’t make them for the K&K until only recently. I’m going to buy one and check it out. It’ll be interesting to see how I’m going to run the wires since I mount my K&K behind my bow quiver. I’ll figure something out.
