Kappalite 3015 into Peavey 115 EX

Well my bass cab is a 4 ohm Peavey 115 EX rated at 250 watts. There is no horn in this cabinet. The problem is that my Tour 700 head pushes 700 watts into 4 ohm and 500 watts into 8 ohm. So instead of waiting for the speaker to fry some night I am thinking of putting in the Kappalite 3015 which is rated at 500 watts 8 ohm. Do you guys think that the 3015 will work and sound good in this cabinet. The outside dimensions are 26.625" H x 24.5" W x 19.75" D so I would need to subtract some to get to the internal dimensions. There is a 5.5" across port on the front. I am hoping not to have to do any modifications. Current Black Widows do not go high enough in freq. so that leaves Peavey out as a option. I play a 4-string so do not need mega-low output for a B string. Let me know what you think? Thanks, Wayne

Personally, I'd dump the 4 ohm 115, and get either one good multiple driver 4 ohm cab, like a 410, 212, etc, OR a pair of 8 ohm cabs. Your head is capable of putting out some power, but if you want to turn that power into volume, you need more speakers than a single 15. Even a really good 15.

That box is huge. You would be better off with a 3015LF in that box size.

My numbers show around 4.5cf AFTER subtracting everything.

The 3015 would be OK but will fart out sooner by being in such a large box. The 3015Lf is made for a box that size.

What I would do is put a 3015LF in there and build a fEarful headcase to put on top.
