My first and only bass is a schecter fretless (stiletto studio 4), so I actually need a fretted bass. You can imagine how limited my bass playing has been so far. I primarily listen to rock, so I was leaning towards the sterling sub, however, I feel like it would be a one trick pony, kind of like my strat, which is quite limited in it's tonal variations.

They didn't partner with anyone. THey got into carbon fiber for their piano production.
Welp... looks like there are two different stories here... someone says Status makes their necks... and another says Kawai makes them in-house.
Anyone else have another take?
kawai hasn't sold a graphite necked bass since the 1980s.
Why don't you email Status and ask them? They are usually very forthcoming with info.

Dammit, I saw a KRB-105, graphite neck and Koa, in a pawn shop in Indianola, MS a few years ago. They wanted $179 for it and I didn't know about them. When I came back about a month later, after researching, it was gone!
