Double Bass Kay Restoration Question

I just landed a 1943 Kay Blond Bass. It is in pretty bad shape, but I have worked for a luthier for a number of years so I am going to do the work on it myself.

Some of the things I am thinking about doing include an ebony saddle and an ebony fingerboard.

Would this decrease the value of the instrument?

I am not restoring this for profit. I plan on keeping this instrument. Just curious. Thanks guys!

Quite the opposite, nobody is buying these as antiques, so forget alla that Antiques Road Show crap. Make it playable, the only caveat is that it makes good senses to keep your investment lower than what the market value for the bass is; if you keep your investment below $2K you should be fine.

oh surely below $2000. I am doing all of the work myself. I don't imagine it going over a few hundred dollars. My main goal is to get it playable and right for me. Thanks.
