Hi guys, I'm working on reproducing the early style Kay tailpiece decal and I'm looking for a better photo of a more complete one for my artist to work from.
Does anybody have a nicer decal they can take a giant photo of for us?

Also, is there any interest out there in having a reproduction decal? Probably the more I make the cheaper they'll be per piece.

Please send your 1 megapixel photos to jake at thebassspa.com

Thanks a lot! :)

Jake:

Did you check in with Roger Stowers over at kaybass.com? I've bought several repro decals from him over the years, always for around $10 a decal. That might save you a LOT of work. He also sells the repro chrome badges. A few scuffs with some steel wool and a hit or two with a hammer or block of wood and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference from an original. The decals are waterslide, so buy an extra in case you blow it.

If you head over to the Old Woodworking Machines (OWWM.com) website, they've got some great threads on reproducing decals and metal name badges.

I just wonder if a Kay Bass enthusiast out there would not have this exact logo tattooed on their person somewhere?
Tis a nice artistic Logo.:)

Oog... that's pretty dark Tom.
Can you shoot some outdoors where there might be more light? And closer up - all we need in the frame is the decal. Do you know how to set the cametra to take 1 megaoixel images?

By the way, the 'figure' on Bob's 1940 Kay came from an airbrush! :) That's plain plywood under the paint. It is a nice bass nonetheless and I'm looking forward to hearing it in a little while...

OK, I think we have rain for the next few days. Hope I'm not holding you up. That will give me time to figure out the camera. I will do it ASAP as long as it's not pouring.
