I know, but I bought the thing several years ago like a dummy without really checking it in detail, so yeahhh brought that on me own self, so now I'm gonna slowly gather info and peck away at it.

I know someone who can and has done miracles with tops like that. ( @james condino ).

Double Bass - The Kay Bass Club + Engelhardts, King & other old US made Plywood Basses.

I'm sure I don't have the skills or the tools that you do, but if it were me, I'd be looking for any way possible in the world to get myself and that instrument to James. With his skills and massive tool collection, a few days in Asheville NC could save that instrument.

Well I don't claim to know EVrything LOL and every craft and trade has its nuances of course, but I am a pretty deeply skilled guy with lots of tools years of trades-related experience and the common sense that comes with that. Mr. Condino was kind enough to chime in on this thread and contribute some very good direction, observations and encouragement. On the 25th I will be going through open heart surgery and once I get through THAT knothole hope to do much of the under-top repair and then might ask him to press it. Steady as she goes and thanks for your kind remarks!
