Keep a consistent sound or change every song?

If I make changes they are intentional tweaks to stay in front of the sound man. If I need a boost for something I already have an idea beforehand, by the time the sound guy catches it in back to normal.
For instance If I play "shut up and dance" I boost the overdrive on my soundblox channel for that song. When its done I switch to something like neck pick up and a really mellow fingerstyle for "say it ain't so", then on to "superstition" where I get 8 bars to solo and I'll go from passive to active for my slappy solo so I can cut through then back to passive, then its blend 50 50 and using my pointer finger as a pick for a link song like "When I come around" , then blend 50 50 and fingerstyle for compression closer to the bridge on active for r Kelly. Literally the only person that knows this is going on is me, the sound guy thinks he's nailing it but I'm doing the lifting without changing his mix. All monitoring through in ears. Most importantly, I'm the only one that notices. Fu fun.
