This is the second time I've found that the glue bond for my saddle has failed. Any hints or tips? It's a standard saddle from Upton.

If you didn't sand it first, the hide glue may not have bonded well. Hide likes a fresh unoxidized, unwaxed surface.
I've also noticed that some saddles are shaped so as to lever the saddle loose. I re-shape them so that the tailpiece wire pushes them down into the bass more, rather than up towards the bridge.

Don that happened 3xs on my panormo build. got the same saddle, used aviation cable,squared up the saddle 2xs, finally bit the glue bullet (you know what I mean). next build i'm going to angle the bass block and saddle to compensate for stress. Dennis

my feeling is that both the saddle and the nut should be able to stay in place pretty much without glue. I do glue the saddle in place, but only after fitting with a couple of strings in place first. The nut holds fine under string pressure alone without any glue at all. Makes subsequent nut filing and fingerboard dressing easier if you can just pop the nut off.
