Just picked one up and trying to work the bugs out of it. Possibly the most fun troubleshooting anything in the history of troubleshooting stuff.

I recencly snagged one for the purpose of kegging, lagering, and freeing up general beer space in my main fridge. Haven't quite had time to mess with the kegging and CO2 portion yet.

I thought this was just going to be a plug and play deal. After some adjustments and about 10 good cups, I am getting the foam under control. Not into brewing, just got a pony keg of miller lite and tapped her up.

For a long while my second fridge was used for lagering homebrews and I installed a kegerator conversion kit on it as well.

Then the thing died on me and I have yet to replace it.

My homebrewing buddy has a True Kegerator in his living room. Nice.

Mine is a similar, but older version of the bottom. Took some modifying to get the proper cooling needed in the tower, but I am getting little foam now. Yay me.

How difficult and time consuming would you say the process is? My roommate and I have been discussing the possibility of installing one of the fridge conversion kits for a while now.

Not that bad. I did ruin the first fridge I tried, but considering you should be able to get an old fridge for $20 or so (often people who get a new one will just give away the old one if you're willing to go pick it up) it's not really a big deal.

Every other install went smooth and quick. An afternoon of work to have beer on tap at your house is always worth it. Especially if you're kegging your own homebrew.

No idea what brand, like I said it is an older one...one that someone has recovered with black plastic to look updated. It sounds of cheese, but looks pretty nice. I did some net-search before messing with it and gave it a good looking over before messing with it. I found the tower was completely sealed off from refrigeration, which is foam waiting to happen. A 1" copper pipe and some insulation from Lowes fixed that right up.

About the Miller lite? Eh I know....but I like it. I need to sample some others before buying an entire keg of something I may not like. I like some of the darker "snob" beers, but doubtful anyone else who visits will.

Oh, and we paid $50 for the fridge, $40 for the co2 bottle, and I think $60-70 for the tap and gauges. The fridge came with a hole on the side that we plugged, and drilled a hole on the front. All the stickers (anything except the magnets) came from the original owner. We had to replace the lines and the tap recently, and our beer distributor neighbor (my brother takes care of his horses, I used to) gave us a new tap and lines. You guys just need to find the right friends.

This is my setup. It will take a half keg but I use it mostly for 5 gallon homebrew kegs and lagering.
