KEN SMITH CORE HELP

i plan to order a ken smith high-end bass，quilted maple is my favotite choice for top and back，jazz walking bass is my major， now i wonder which wood is my best choce for the core， west quilted maple or mahogany？thx

Talk to Ken, he knows the tonal qualities of the bass. I personally recommend Flamed Maple top and back. I have owned several and for me the Maple give a brighter sound.
Rodneyat has a beatiful Smith listed on this forum. There are some beautiful used Smiths out there at less $$$ than a new one.

Jazz walking bass,i would think mahogany would be a better choice if for no other reason than better finger style tone .The best thing that you could would be to talk to ken . He knows his woods.

Mahogany sounds like a good choice. I have walnut with a maple core which is thick but strong mids and crispy highs which are great for my primary genres (Gospel, R&B and contemp Jazz) that are seamless in tone requirements.
