Ken Smith headstock: 3+2 or 2+3

I know what the topic is here. My point is that it All matters. It's just that some have different opinions on how and what matters and what you can hear or feel.

Temperture and humidity makes the Bass feel different as well. It also affects the speakers and what you actually hear. You have to make tests in different climates etc to really have a study.
 
A shorter string (all else being equal) is at a lower tension when vibrating at the same pitch as a longer string. However, when plucking the string, the shorter string requires more force to pull sideways, hence it can feel stiffer or tighter to the touch. Added to this is the fact that as you approach the bridge, the string is also harder to deflect sideways, and hence feels stiffer. And on a shorter scale instrument, you are likely to be plucking closer to the bridge.
