Kent Armstrong on Brice fretless?

I am really unhappy with pickups on my Brice HXB-405 fretless. To replace pickups it might be to pricey. Comparing different pickups (Mighty Mite is the same crap like originals, SD, Bartolinis and some others can be more than whole new guitar...)
So, I came across Kent Armstrong's ($84 each), what might be worth try.

Any suggestions in this matter?

There is a line of Kent Armstrong pickups that are made in the Far East, I'm not sure where. They offer very good value; the ones I've heard on Wishnevsky basses sounded just wonderful. I'm sure they will sound great on the Brice, if you can match the size.

Another thing in play with that Brice is the EQ. Some people switch out the EQ and leave the stock pickups in those HXB basses and are happy with the results. If it were mine, I'd try it completely passive before going with new pickups. If the EQ is what you don't like and you try new pickups into the EQ, you still may not like the sound of the bass.
