Keyboards and Ableton

In one of my bands we are trying to figure out a good keyboard setup for practice and shows. He plays on 2 keyboards, but we want to be able to run them through Ableton on a laptop to get some higher quality sounds than what the keyboards have (they are a couple of cheap ones). He has to change sounds a lot for different parts so we also want to figure out an easy way to pre-program what sounds he'll need for each one so that he can hit a "next" button or whatever and quickly change. None of us are really too knowledgeable on MIDI setup so I was wondering if anyone here could offer any guidance on how to do this.

The quickest way to change sounds in Ableton Live is to put each software instrument on it's own track and then just enable the tracks as needed.

Sending MIDI program changes to software instruments running inside Live is completely dependent on whether each instrument supports it.

If your keyboard player is already using Live at home, tell him to dig into the manual or ask for help at the Invalid Link Removed.
