Kiesel Vader 5 vs Musicman Stingray Stealth HH 5

Hey guys,
So I nearly saved up enough money to get one of these, unfortunately I can't decide which one exactly. I'm kind of overwhelmed by the options Kiesel offers.

What would you guys tend to?

I haven't played a Stingray 5 but I owned a MM Sterling 5 with just the single humbucker in the bridge. It was a real nice bass but it was a bit too heavy for me and ultimately I prefer passive. I haven't played a Kiesel Vader 5 but I'd definitely go for that one because of the weight and I'm very intrigued by the headlessness.

I am literally on the same boat as you..I would either like to order a Kiesel vader bass or a stingray. I'm leaning towards the vader.

I was very very close to ordering one but other bills reared their hideous heads. I don't thin I'll be able to order one until June.

Did you do the Rush Build option?

No, I never do that. I have a backup, with my ESP, and lucked out in the meantime, having found a custom '06 US Peavey Cirrus...mucho sweet bass.

I have my Ibanez SR655 but if I were to order a Vader 5-string, I'd do the rush build option because I'm impatient

I've owned several 5 HH Rays and a couple of 5 HH Sterlings. I understand why they are so popular, but I can't get into them. They don't work for me.

I currently have a Vader VB5 I bought from the classifieds. I have a VB5 that should be in my hands in about 3 weeks, and I have another VB5F that should be here the first part of June. Needless to say, I kinda dig the Vader. The Pickups and electronics are actually very good! I've been getting the active/passive circuit and that sweepable mid is just golden! Our sound guy, who's been with us through a multitude of basses, never misses an opportunity to tell me how good the Vader sounds. When I told him I'd have another one in a couple of weeks, he hugged me. It's the little things that make him happy...

I do still have my Valenti Jazz-style basses that are in my avatar. I still love them and gig them(mainly because I always take two basses to gigs), but once I saw the Vader, I was hooked. I've wanted a Status bass since I can remember, and this is a GRAND substitute, LOL! The options Kiesel offers are insane, and the prices are pretty reasonable, although they are creeping up.

My plan is to order a Vader VB4 after I get my fretless 5, and then, maybe, a passive, short-scale VB6.

That's gonna be sweeeet! I like the contrast. I really dig what you spec'd.

The "downside" is my black Vader, which I ordered the first week of February, is now 3 weeks past due. I can't get any answers as to why. Even though I keep bringing this up, I'm only irritated by the lack of communication, not by the bass being late. I have plenty of basses to play, including my current Vader.

I hope you get yours on time or close to whenever it's supposed to be done.

Yeah, I read your thread on the forum...hope mine doesn't get delayed, either! I have a Status S2 coming in soon, from across the pond, so it'll be enough of a battle between that and my custom Cirrus.

You got a Status S2 coming? Not gonna lie, I'm slightly jealous right now...lol! When I'm set on gear(yeah, I know, right), maybe next year, I'll try to pick up a Status. I really want a headless Stealth, but I keep watching Level 42 vids and the idea of a Kingbass is intriguing. I do have one thing coming from across the pond-I'm waiting on a Barefaced Big Twin II!

If you don't mind me asking, When did you order your Vader and when is it supposed to be done? If you wanna PM me, that's cool.

I found an '09 S2 in the official Status forum, Invalid Link Removed. There's still a headless blue 6 Stealth on there (I think), for $2K....

I ordered my VB5 on 3/7.

When is your VB5 supposed to be done? You ordered not quite a week after I did...

edit: I actually ordered my fretted VB5 over a month before you did. I ordered my fretless VB5 at the end of March...
