Not defending Kraken, but when I saw that, and read the post about him going after Kraken.
Well.......make up your own mind, I did.

Not to sound like a jerk here but, how many more original deisgns are there? I mean, everything looks similar to something else, right?

When I have had custom basses made I have designed a body that has similar characteristics of basses that I like. I think that is true of everyone who has had a "custom" bass made. What's the big deal here? If you can get something that you like made from these guys or Chris Stambaugh or Mark Garza, where is the harm? You alter something so that it is not a complete ripoff and go for it. These guys seem to be doing the same thing. I don't understand why this is a big deal.

Well...Kraken is notorious for their poor electronics and crappy construction quality in Korea, especially on making custom basses. NAMM show models may sound good, but I`ve heard that that models are specially treated and builed by Masterbuilder of Kraken and some other MB in Korea.-_-;;

I`m not sure Kraken can sustain their quality as well as NAMM models when they make production models or even "custom ordered" basses.

I sent off for a quote out of interest too, might be the only way I'll ever be able to afford a "Fodera Style" bass!
It seems very very reasonable too, assuming the quality would be as good as the NAMM basses!

6 strings
33" scale length
Single-Cut shape like the "Fodera Style" Matthew Garrison signature model
Bolt-On neck construction
Mahogany body with rosewood top and matching headstock facing
5 piece neck, probably maple
Ebony fingerboard with standard MOP dot inlays and 24 medium frets
"Fodera Style" Extended B headstock
2 dual coil pickups with ebony covers and exposed pole pieces
3 band EQ, with coil tap for each pickup, active passive switch and passive tone control
Black hardware
17mm string spacing at bridge and 57mm nut width
Brass nut

Not bad for $1800 - god knows what it'd cost to ship to Scotland though!

Bought 4 during the last day of NAMM. sold them over they years and looking to buy 2 of them back. Looking for a very special bass AAAAA+ maple body AND fretboard Kahlar trem. Even the knobs were wood.. I'll try to find the pics.. looking to find who I sold it to circa 2009-2010.. maybe to minnesota. didn't appreciate it. Shortly after Kraken went under.. really beautiful piece:woot:
