Kraken Champ 3.9, 5 string

I saw this new bass lineup by "Kraken" on ebay and liked the design so bid on one (won) to try out. Anyone who owns one please feel free to share your experience with it.
It is their "Maple Burl Black" version with the matching neck-back (neck is matte which is good and body gloss). I think they are quite cool looking basses especially the blue version (was not available at this time).

Yes, it is a very good looking bass (different and cooler looking than the pic) and sounds good too! My daughter said it was the best looking bass I have owned (had owned over 50 now). The only thing I have to work out is the setup. I am getting buzzing on a few strings at the 5th fret. It will be going in for a "check up" at my local guitar tech. I ordered SR2000 strings to help drop the action as they are tapered (and sound good too). I added a battery-cut switch and an extra battery for 18v operation. I really want this bass to work out cause it feels nice (balance, weight) and has a really unique look. I am also impressed with the overall quality especially for the coin I dished out. I will post a pic soon and update on how the setup goes.

I bought two of those. One five-string and one six-string model. Ok, I have to admit, that the second one was more by accident since I bid on it without to much hope to get it for this price. It came out, that no one else was seriously interested in it.
The five-string model arrived a week ago in my home and my first impression was very positive. I didn't have to adjust the neck or the string height honestly, I never got a bass which was so nicely set up from beginning. The playability is great, and I had no issues concerning uneven frets or deadspots. The only downgrade is the preamp. When I dial the treble up, the preamp is produces a hiss. Beside of that I think these basses are great for the price I paid for the 5-string 350 $ and for the 6-string 450$ incl. the shipping from South Korea to Switzerland!

the buzzing is the relief (truss rod setting) if you go with the tapered strings, DO NOT string then through body... the volume knob is push-pull so you can bypass the preamp. (I don't have mine yet-- have to wait till Monday. Have your tech look at the nut height and neck angle (at the pocket)

Thanks for the report! I'm waiting rather impatiently for mine...:bawl:
