Krist Novoselic RD Signature Bass!!

This should be made by Epiphone and not have his signature in big letters all over the headstock. I'd definitively pay $300-500 for one of these, but the current price at $1500 is murder. Also, the signature on the headstock kind of strips the identity of the owner of the bass. If I had a signature bass, my name wouldn't be on it, so players could enjoy it as their own bass, and do what they want with it without my name there. Love the bass itself besides those two problems. Krist Novoselic is one of my favorite bass players.

Never knew there were Moog electronics on-board in the original...any examples of what it did, sound-wise? YouTube videos perhaps?

I'd guess that at least one of the toggle switches was for on/off...anyone know what did what?

The moog was built in compression. My RD Artist had three switches. It's been too long to remember exactly how they worked.

Why are people complaining about his name on the headstock? When you look at legit autographs on CDs and stuff that is how he signs his name. With it being a SIGNATURE bass im sure they wanted his name on there so that people who know little about bass guitars but alot about NIRVANA say hey thats how im going to get the sound I want and they buy it because of that. Also probably because this is like what he wanted built to be like his. I think there is a video of him playing one of these at a 20 years of Nevermind benifet show in Seattle last weekend.

Novoselic knows what's needed to get a good sound, there's for example a reason why he favored mahogany bodied Ibanez Black Eagle basses over Ash bodied Fender jazz basses from the same era.

Yeah, I don't think Novoselic really gave that much thought to his sound at that point in his career. I would say the reason he played a Black Eagle over a Jazz bass would be that at that time a Black Eagle ran less than half what a Jazz bass cost.

It looks cool, and I guess the rich kiddies can bully their parents into buying them the bass that Krist was chucking around in all the videos from back then, but it seems that too many compromises are being made by Gibson here.

a video that is 20 years old or so? Wouldn't those 'kiddies' actually be well into their 30s...perhaps with kids of their own? I would think kids would be far more familiar with the Foos being that they have been around since 1994 (17 years ago.....) and still make music - so the Nate Mendelson signature P bass coming out next year should be a big hit -----
