La Bella flatwound issues

So I’ve been using La Bella flats on my P and Mustang basses for years, and recently replaced both sets. They were both littered with issues, from abnormally buzzy D and G strings on the standard scale set, to an overly dead E string on the Mustang set. La Bella’s customer service is very good and I’ve been able to get replacements free of charge, so long as I demonstrated the issues on video and provided proof of purchase (which I unfortunately didn’t have for the Mustang set as I got it so long ago) - but just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with their strings recently.

Are you talking about high-pitched buzz also known as "sitar effect"?

If so, check to see if the part of the string between the ball end and the saddle is sitting against the intonation adjustment spring...

...like the D and the A in the pic below. That could possibly the cause of the buzz, not any defect in the string itself.

right, I’ve had that effect happen - actually didn’t know that could be the cause. But this was different, more like bad fret buzz - and it would be pretty coincidental for it to happen on 2 strings.

Hey thank you brother....I just last night took a Brand new set of TB Labellas 109 E ...off my new used 2008 P the g string had a weird buzz happening to get rid of it meant stupid high action....ended up throwing a good used set used Labellas 105 E on immediately buzz gone

What if you need to put the e saddle back a little, causing the winding part to sit on the saddle? I don't think that would be good, but mine is at the limit. I use labella original 1954 with the heavy 110 e string

Never in years had an issue with Labellas, but interestingly I just had a kinda weird E string in a set of 760FS. It was really subtle, but the E string sounded.... slightly more "growly" compared to the rest of the set, more than I would normally expect(I wouldn't even call it "buzz" it was more like the kind of growl some folks desire).
Been using these for years on several P's and this was my first time putting on a Jazz, so I thought maybe it's just this bass and string combo. But I wanted a backup set for the bass anyway, so I bought a new set and they do not have the same issue on this same bass, they sound consistent across all 4 strings.
