LAB Series 1x15 cab original driver?

I just got a look of a LAB Series 1x15 bass cab. I took all the measurements needed but the driver has no markings on it. It was the original one for sure. Does anybony know which driver was used? I'm making one or two of those cabs to match my LAB Series L2 head.

Oh my, back to the tail end of the hazy days of the late 60's early 70's, but a good guess, without searching, would be either Eminence or C.T.S.

And I'd put more scheckles on a wrong than a correct guess, as those days are pretty foggy. I even did a small Wisconsin tour for a local Gibson dealer, with a Norlin Rep on keyboards, hawking those amps for a couple of weeks. Had a Gibson RD Artist and the Big LAB head with a cab stack for a rig. I did enjoy the sound in the context of an all LAB equipped band but my personal gigging rig, at the time, was an Acoustic 360 with two cabs and a Marshall 100 watt head head into an angled 4x12 being fed by a Rickenbacker 4005 and a Ric-O-Sound splitter so I never bought one despite the demo pricing we were offered at the end of the whirlwind state tour. Funny though as I remember having to learn the specs, etc., so I could spew forth to anyone remotely interested, but alas those memories are in a damaged sector today.

I no longer have the 70' Fireglo, 71' Mapleglo, or 71' Jetglo 4005's, nor any of the 60's & 70's 4001's either. Sold or traded every single one long ago including a 4001 C64S to Paul Boyer.

Did keep a Montezuma Brown COY 4003 that is strung with flats though.

Amps are long gone or dead as well, only the OR 120 Graphic and Reflector cab from Orange remain from the early days.

And now, back to the LAB.........

hello marco, the original driver is a Emminence driver but i don`t know the type. perherbs is the copy of EVM15L. LG Rainer

This is a very old post...

The Eminence driver model is Lab 12C and is still available:
eminence.com

12 inch Eminence Professional Series Replacement Speaker

Recommended for vented, sealed, and horn loaded, professional audio enclosures as a subwoofer. Also great as an automotive sub.

Missed the Lab Series as a brand and not as a model.

I was involved in PSW when the Lab 12 and even a Lab 15 were being hashed about. There was also talk about a Lab 10, the series was interesting but ultimately I think the Lab 12 was the winner. I know there were some 15's built but don't recall if the driver was ever produced as a production model.

FYI Parts Express still sells a Eminence Lab15 driver: Eminence LAB15 15" Pro Audio Subwoofer Speaker

I used to lust over the idea of Lab12 horns. However as I recollect, not a realist fantasy as they were rather large and intended to be used in groups of 4 or more.

I assume a proper Lab15 horn would be even bigger :eek:.

Some Lab Series guitar combos could rip your head off. 100 watts used a 15" speaker
Used a big big magnet CTS speaker.

Bass Cab used same CTS speaker. I had a 315A Bass cab I bought used in the 90's they sold with cabinet because it had the CTS
They Upgrade factory speakers were EV15L for guitar EV15B for the bass cab. So the music store I bought used stuff from would instantly remove the EV speakers and toss the cabinet in the dumpster. So at one time had 2 empty cabinets they gave me. And yes at one point 3 empty cabinets because it didn't take long to blow up the CTS speaker with my then new Hartke Bass amp.
Got to love google, what a blast from the past! Found a picture on Ebay have not seen those in awhile. Pretty rare even back in the day
" rare" meaning nobody cared and was a source for EV speakers if one appeared. Or " rare" meaning broke guitar players could buy the loudest combo possibly for cheap

I liked the form factor. Loaded later with the older Eminence " beta" speakers. Ironically practically the same CTS speaker.
Worked great as a 2x15. Also loaded it with somewhat rare first Peavey black widow speakers for bass before the super structure models.
The hundred watt amps looked like monsters inside. 8 output transistors
