LaBella Gold White Tapes

Just reporting on these. I wanted to tame the crispy top end on my 'fretless 79 MM Sabre and I've had good experiences with their black nylon tapes on my fretless jazz and their copper whites on my Joe Dart.

I'm pleased to say the gold whites are perfect on my Sabre. I think it needs a new nut, though, the action is too low for my taste.

I like them too. An interesting tonal alternative, brighter than black tapes but smoooooooooth as a baby's bottom.... (not that I'd know how smooth that is, never changed a diaper!!) hehe

I love Labella tapes, have used the black, white, and white/copper varieties on several very different basses.
Are you using the lighter gauge set? That’s what I’ve used, never required any nut filing to accommodate.
I’m curious about the heavier gauge, but have really find the light gauge perfect for my needs.

I have also used the White Tapes in the regular 60-115 gauge. With one band I was with about a decade ago that gigged regularly, I used a set for two years before the frets wore divots in the nylon tape and finally had to be replaced. I liked them for the same reasons the OP does. The tape adds about 15 thou diameter to the strings, but no appreciable mass, so the 60-115 set plays about the same tension as a 45-100 set of conventional round wound strings.
