Don’t know if you are still looking but Sweetwater has them in stock again.Does anyone have an unused set for sale? I can't find a set anywhere. Everyone is out of stock by the manufacturer. Please send me a PM.
They also have some in stock at stringsbymail.com
Might be time to set up one of the basses as BEAD……The only set in stock at Strings By Mail right now is the 5-string set (LTF-5A). They have two sets in stock.
I have a set coming to me on Monday. I have a Fender AVRI '75 jazz reissue (ash body, rosewood fingerboard), and with the TIs I have on it, it is quite midrangey. It has a great 70's funk/disco burble and pop, and it records really well, but doesn't have enough bottom end ooomph live. I plan to try the LTFs on this and hope to get a bit more bottom end. I go for a vintage sound with tone knob rolled down/off.
That thump they give!! I could immediately “feel” the silk inside the strings, below the outer wrap. They sound like there’s a mute at the bridge, but much better than that! And the silk makes them so much more pliable than like 95% of flats out there.Just installed my first set of these this weekend on a P-bass that’s worn TI flats for years. First impression is very good, they need time to break in of course but they are doing what I expected based on the reviews and I’m happy so far.
Just strings always killed me with their shipping costs, compared to the free shipping I often get elsewhere. But, there’s definitely advantages to using their site, if you have the $$Just strings has them. I ordered from them on Monday and got a shipped email today.
I don’t know if I got the last set…
^^^The reason I don’t play J basses at all.^^^. But, a J can get you their with the right strings, and settings.I have a set coming to me on Monday. I have two other jazz basses - AVRI '62 reissue (alder/rosewood), and they sound deep, full, and chewy. Especially the heavy (10+ lbs) one. That one wears a 20 year old set of 9050 ML flats, and the other wears TIs. They both actually sounded fuller with more bottom than my AV '63 Precision, so I sold that. The Precision also wore TIs. We can make generalizations - and it's fun to do! - but each instrument ultimately is its own beast.
What is universal, is that when a Pigeon lands on a sound stage you cannot hear it. Weird huh?
This is a terrrible joke about acoustics.
I agree. I’ve been lazy when it comes to J basses, and haven’t taken the time to find the right strings for the few that I’ve owned.I have two other jazz basses - AVRI '62 reissue (alder/rosewood), and they sound deep, full, and chewy.
