Labella Medium Scale Copper Whites Source?

Back when I owned a 32” scale Rob Allen, I used to get medium scale copper whites from him. He special-ordered them from Labella. They were the perfect string for that bass. The medium scale black tapes were okay, but the copper whites were magic.

It’s been several years, but I find myself in need of those strings again. However, no one answers Rob’s email (it seems he’s not manning that ship any longer). Similarly, Labella has not responded to my inquiry.

Does anyone have a source for medium scale copper whites? Or a relationship with Labella and can find out if they can/will make some sets? I might be willing to bulk order depending on cost.

If you want La Bella to make a custom run of string sets, you will need to order several gross. And with the current market, they may or may not even take your order, and it will be expensive. Have you contacted Rob Allen to see if he has any sets left over? I'm sure if he does he would make a deal with you to clear NOS. In the meantime, I have medium scale black tapes, which are still available retail, on a Frankenbass using a Jag H neck with an epi Rockbass body, repositioned bridge, Bart J-pickups, etc. which are still available retail.

Thanks. I’m using the black nylons now, but really miss the spark the copper whites had.

As I mentioned, no one is responding to Rob’s email. I’ve heard he’s moved out of the country and someone else is constructing basses with the last bits of his stock. If I could reach them, I’d definitely inquire about any back stock on strings!

I have a phone number for him somewhere. I might try calling on Monday.
