In my experience, maple adds brightness and somehow more aggression to the overall sound. Works well for slap style or tapping for me. Rosewood makes the sound warmer or darker imo. But you CAN do all techniques on basses with both woods.
As some members already wrote, try them both and let your ears and feel decide.
