This is the fix for your tone Jones. If you know Darryl's discography, then you know he plays with some heavyweights. When he came to us looking for a new axe, we were determined to deliver an instrument that could hang with that kind of company as well. We used the opportunity to see if one of our mid-price instruments could please a world-class pro like Darryl. When he took it on stage with him during The Rolling Stones 2002 tour, that question was answered.
The Darryl Jones Signature bass looks similar to our Osborn models, but has more curve to its contouring and dramatic cutaways that add to its vintage styling. Darryl's bass is fitted with a pair of passive single coil pickups specially designed by Lakland. Three knobs control the tone: Bridge Volume, Neck Volume and Tone.
The bass is 9 Lbs. 8 Oz .which is fairly light for a DJ5!
I would say the DJ5 is in A+ condition.
This bass comes with 3 (Count 'em 3!) Jeannies pickguards - the two shown in the pictures and the original white guard.
That is an additional $100+ in guards included!
Ships with a Gator hard sided case if you would like a Roadmaster Case or an SKB case, we can talk
The Mother of Pearl Blocks are really nice...the picture does not do them justice.
It has the Lakland pickups which are some of the best sounding J pickups made!! This bass growls like a lion!
I am getting rid of it simply because I now have a US JO5 with CHIsonic pickups and a Skyline JO5 - making this bass kind of redundant.
