Just curious what others think about this comparison? I have never had a MM style pickup in any of my basses and was curious of the tonal options I could get from a MM/J set up compared to a SC/Soap Bar set up. Also, any cons against the MTD?

Lakland 55-01 or MTD Kingston Heir 5

I just bought a Lakland 55-01 about a month ago and highly recommend it. Plays like butter and the sound is pretty incredible. My other bass buddy's couldn't get over the action. I think you would love it.
I have a Lakland 44-01 and my friend has an MTD which I've played before and heard him play.
Both will play great in terms of action but the tone of each is very different. You'll want to give each a listen.

If I could afford it, I'd get one of each, though I'd personally lean towards the 55-02 over the 55-01.
