Lakland 55-94 Lowest Serial

Hello,
I was wondering who had the lowest Serial No. for a Lakland 55-94. My Amber Flame
Deluxe is 6395. I'd be interested in knowing just how low we can go. Generally, I would assume
that the first ten basses or so would have gone to company executives or placed with artists.
Let the games begin.

Somebody here recently started a thread and has a serial number in the 50's...from 1995, the first year of production. I've also seen photos here that make me think somebody has a Lakland old enough that there is no logo on the bridge.

i bought mine when i lived in the suburbs outside chicago, so i got the opportunity to go to the factory! one particularly dry winter, my neck contracted enough to have the fret edges stick out... they were sharp and i didn't know why that was happening so i called them to ask. they said to bring it by since i was local and carl pedigo (i think his name was) kindly fixed the guitar up like new while i poked around the woodshop. neat experience! mine is number #5983...

The serial number of my Lakland 55-94 was 152. Dan Lakin said it was built in May 1997.



A great instrument which I owned for about 14 years, until it started to get a little too heavy for my shoulder and I had to sell it.

I did see an even earlier one that was being sold by Pino Palladino, but after a play in the shop, I definitely preferred my bass.

This is an old thread that I just ran across, but I thought I'd addd to it. This is serial number 008. I've had it for about 20 years. No LAKALND stamprd on the bridge, and the jack is top loaded. I talked to Dan when I first got it, and he said he considered all of the first ten to be pre-production prototypes. Great bass, beautiful grain, and amazing birdseye maple fretboard,

Mine is 5143 which makes it a 97. Fantastic bass!
