Lakland 5501 weak A string

Check to be sure the string is well seated at the bridge (i.e. witness point.) I had a dead A string and all I had to do was push down real hard between the bridge and the string mount (i.e. set the witness point.) My bridge piece had also lowered from playing so I put a little loc-tite on the screws and reset it too. Some basses are prone to the bridge pieces dropping down after being played a lot. Both of my P Basses have done it. A little loc-tite works wonders for this problem.
