Lamont Dozier, RIP

a fantastic creative force --- he wrote "the songs of my life" --- i was lucky enough to have met him and to have worked with him at a few theater-type gigs in the late 70s - early 80s. great talent, easy to work with,

R.I.P., lamont dozier.
Yes, he wrote a lot of the soundtrack of my youth and many of the first songs I learned to play. So amazing that you worked with him. Condolences

What an era of music! Jack Ashford is the only Funk Brother still with us. Joe Messina passed away this past April.

We've watched Standing In The Shadows Of Motown probably a dozen times. Still cry like a baby when watching it.

Man that's crazy...I was just doing some cleanup in the kitchen tonight listening to a Motown playlist and "where did our love go" was one of the first songs to play, written by Holland-Dozier-Holland...to come in to read this news. Even though I'm an 80's baby, 60's Motown was what I first wanted to learn on bass, my first teachers so to speak...can't believe they're nearly all departed. To now find out that he was the arranger/producer of the trio...man, we definitely lost one of the greats.

"Reflections" by the Supremes, also written by H-D-H, is one of my favourite songs of all time (first heard it when I was around 5 or 6 and still remember where I was when I heard it that first time...I was mesmerized by it), not just for Jamerson's amazing playing but for the entire band and vocal arrangement...it's soooooo good!

I know what I'll be listening to for the rest of the week...RIP Mr. Dozier.
