They call me. How do I weed stuff out? Firstly, I don't really have that luxury most of the time, because I need to take most work that comes my way. Except over the past year; if something is super jive or low-paying, I'll blow it off if I can. That's the only real weeding out I need to do; it's schedule dependent, ultimately.

Very interesting. Do you mean this past year it's been tougher out there? I only ask 'cause a couple other guys I know who are pros have been bemoaning the low budgets(some that are embarrassing) and general lack of work for the last 8-12 mos. or so, apparently yet another victim of George Bush's "strong and growing" economy:(

Curious, though, if there was a "dream artist" you wanted to play with, would you put the word out, or maybe have your peeps call their peeps?

No, I mean that as time goes on with my career, I get more busy, thankfully. And with NIN happening now, I have to be even more selective with the sessions I take, just for time reasons.

However, I WILL say that, even though there's a good quantity of work, people are paying less for sure.

Dream Artist? Sure...I'd like to play for artists that have great bassists already: New Order, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Foos, Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Death Cab, so many. Also, I wish the Cocteau Twins would reform already; that's a bass gig I would love, though Simon Raymonde would likely be game to be back in the band...they almost did Coachella last year, then pulled out. Bummer.
