Laptop based Keyboard Bass Live Set Up Problem

Hi All,

I have recently started playing synth / keyboard bass and am having trouble finding an interface / DI solution to make my setup work live.
My current set up is as follows:

Axiom Pro 49 > Macbook > Mainstage / Spectrasonics Trilian > Apogee Duet > DI > Amp/FOH

The Apogee Duet has stereo outputs and a headphone out. The headphone output doesn’t seem to play nice as a ‘thru’ input to an amp with lots of computer / white noise present.
I have considered running the stereo outputs from the Duet into a DI, but I can’t find a DI that has a stereo input / output with a mono ‘thru’ option to route to my amp.

Can anyone think of a DI / Interface solution that would allow me to send a stereo signal to FOH and a mono signal to my amp?

I'm familiar with the Radial JDI Duplex, (I have the JDI and JDV DI's), but I don't think it is suitable because there isn't a way to sum the thru outputs if you input the left and right output from my apogee to the left and right inputs. Also if you mergethe inputs on one side there is no additional thru output...

Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Maybe an interface with more output options is the solution?
Is there a small high quality interface that has a master output (for FOH) as well as monitoring outputs?

Sell the Apogee and buy a MOTU Ultralite and make whatever mix you want.

There is this: pcDI® - Catalog - Whirlwind , but it doesn't sound like it will work for you.

I almost have to agree with fokof, a MOTU Ultralite can do everything and more.
But it seems like there ought to be a simpler solution...

Perhaps I could just figure out how to run the synth patches in mono and use the left and right outputs as separate lines out...?

You can get a used Ultralite for the price of that Radial JDI duplex... so it's only simpler in the fact that it'll take a little more time to setup initially.

Seems like Mainstage has a Stereo/Mono format option.

Switch it to mono, then the main out Left and Right both received the same signal.
Send one to the board, one to your monitor amp.

Stereo never works out live anyhow.

Sea Monkey: You can only change the format between mono and stereo on audio channels, (not software instrument channels) in Mainstage.

Néal Zheimer: Using two mono DI's instead of one stereo DI doesn't address my need for a single mono output to feed my amp.

Anyway, I have decided to ditch the stereo output idea and will just use an interface that allows stereo summing to a mono output. Most likely the newer Apogee Duet 2.
