Layla...featuring Marcus Miller

That was awesome! Random comments...

The first 2:45 or so is "In a Sentimental Mood" - my favorite Duke Ellington tune. I love Marcus' interpretation, but I'm not sure he deserved applause for playing two 'A' sections. :D

Sanborn just sounds awesome. As does Gadd. As does Clapton. This whole thing is just way cool!

Sanborn's solo & Marcus' transition to bass....I was wondering how long it was going to take for him to go from fingerstyle to the thumb.

Great stuff!

I saw a longer excerpt from this concert on on demand that was billed "Eric Clapton and friends but when i watched it it was obviously something that Marcus was leading and I remember seeing a DVD called "the masters" from a tour they did (in Japan?) but I guess they went with the bigger mainstream name on that listing.Actually Clapton seemed the most out of place until they did some of his stuff,on the other stuff he was just playing blues licks but he did lay back so it didn't sound bad but it was evident he worked from a different vocabulary than the others but then again Eric Clapton is a Icon and im just a guy on the internet. PS the slapping was cool with me, gave the groove a little push.

Even though Marcus squeaks in every recording of him with the bass clarinet, I LOVE hearing him playing In A Sentimental Mood.
beautiful!

I'm only a few minutes into the song right now though!
We'll see how it pans out!
