No problem! Sometimes the degree of conflict in a thread won't be apparent to anyone but mods, as we've spent time and effort trying to clean it up before resorting to closure. In that case, the appearance of being fairly harmless is actually misleading to other users.

Perhaps I should just mention that any closed thread is still there to be read if you use the forum search function, so no useful info is lost at all. Ask me if you need help finding any thread that has dropped off the list and I'll be happy to send you a link.

I am always disappointed when I see moderators resort to the knee-jerk, ham-fisted reaction of closing a thread. It's an indiscriminate scattergun approach, not a rifle shot. It denies valuable information to everyone, especially the majority of rule-abiding readers, instead of truly punishing the offenders.

I'm not suggesting the job of a moderator is easy or even pleasant, but the tactics that should be used are deleting the offending posts and meting out appropriate punishment for the offenders (no access to the thread for a period of time, no more posts to the thread for a period of time, no more posts to the thread ever, no more posts at all for a period of time, etc.). Can't we use a scalpel instead of a meat cleaver, especially for the more popular threads?

Rule #5 is clearly written, and this post clearly violates it. Please heed it in the future. If you wish to have a discussion with the admins about a moderator's actions, please contact the help desk by clicking on the "contact us" link at the bottom of any form page. No questioning of moderator actions is allowed in the public forums.

IME neither unit you mention is really up to the job if by outdoor gig you mean playing to 100+ people with drums that have strong PA support.

But to put that comment in context - I felt the same way about my 400+ Mesa head w/ Ampeg 8x10 rig.
