"Lead" seems to me to be a perfectly acceptable synonym for cable or patch cord.

Anyway, I think it makes little difference. Obviously you don't want crap they sell at Radio Shack but any decent solid cable will sound as good as another.

"Leads" is way too vague and ambiguous of a word on it's own. You need an adjective with it, like "test leads," or "hookup leads" or something.

Technically, the same could be said for the word "Cable"
But, as said before, any decent cable will do. Lifetime warranties are cool. Buy for durability, as there will be no appreciable difference in sound.
