Double Bass Leaving my bass for 2 weeks

Hey, just a quick and easy question: I'm going away for two weeks and leaving my DB at home (Shen SB88)...I'm just going to pack it up in the gig bag, but should I loosen the tension on the strings at all or anything like that? I've noticed my string instruments tend to be really sharp if I haven't played them in a while, I guess the wood moves around.

No, you don't have to detune. But keep your home at a comfortable temperature. Don't let it get too hot.

+1 to Eric's advice. Store it in a cool place. It will go sharp when the temperature pressure goes up, and go flat when it goes down. In my office at the U, sometimes I'll come in to find the bass 1/4 tone sharp or more if I haven't been in in the summer for a week or so, but that's why I keep the ply bass there. No lasting harm has ever happened in these times that I know of.
