Legit or not? Help!

Hi guys

I need some help identifying this Jazz bass MiJ.
There is no serial nr. to be found and I’m wondering if the bass is legit or not.
What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

Looks like FSR '70s Reissue Jazz Bass Lake Placid Blue. Someone opted for a more vintage correct look with replaced tuners and a pickguard. Also routed for active electronics. The serial numbers should be on the neck plate, but they may have been replaced.493333206_10237148961607691_2660034415358475018_n.jpg

It looks like a Japanese Market MIJ/CIJ JB75-90-US in Ocean Turquoise Metallic. I have 2. The US stands for having US pickups installed at the factory. They should have a bullet truss-rod and a microtilt 3 bolt neck. The serial number will be on the back of the neck near the heel if memory serves, and should read MIJ or CIJ depending upon year and factory of manufacture.

Edit: that stamp on the back of the headstock may be spurious.

Further edit: you can kinda see where the serial number sticker would be on that lighter area on the neck heel of the 4th pic.

While I’m inclined to agree that it appears a sticker is missing from the heel of the bass, I would still be cautious.

If the OP was considering the purchase and expects it to be a genuine Fender, it’s nearly impossible to verify authenticity without a serial number. There might be some markings in the neck pocket or on the heel of the neck. If he doesn’t own it there’s no way to check.
Also, if the two basses in the photo are examples, the logos on the headstocks are completely different from the one the OP is asking about. Also on the headstock, the words JAZZ BASS are extremely close to the edge of the headstock. ???

If it were me I wouldn’t buy it if I was looking for a legitimate Fender. If I was to buy it the price would need to be extremely low, almost a give-a-way

Here's a couple of shots of one of the two, above. Note: neither of them are stickers. Apparently, they're decals or silk screens beneath the clearcoat.

Looking at those pics, you can clearly see that the MADE IN JAPAN isn’t just a sticker. Also in the headstock do I see a serial number? The logo is completely different in the OPs photo.
Add to that the way JAZZ BASS is a lot larger and snakes around the lower edge of the headstock, and it may be a parts bass, or possibly a counterfeit.

Yes, that's the SN.

Looks like a parts bass to me. Or if it was original, the body has been modded substantially.

It seems likely it could be a MIJ neck on a body with active pickups. MIJ Jazz bodies don't come with a side jack (rare if ever) but almost certainly not in combination with a 3 bolt neck for vintage style reissues.

Also none of the MIJ reissue basses with that style of neck (3 bolt) came with active EMGs, or a badass bridge.

We'd be able to tell more looking under the pick guard and the neck pocket.
