He will have been gone ten years on the 28th. :confused:

Even though Lemmy past on in 2015 he was the first of many many influential musicians that died starting a few weeks later in 2016. David Bowie for instance in January of 2016 .

It never got any better for some others the rest of that year such as Leonard Cohen and Prince. That is a long list btw

Happy 80th Birthday and RIP Lemmy!

Lemmy is one of my biggest influences as a bassist. His note and chord choices, bass tone, arrangements, and love of loudness are so influential to me! I would have loved to meet him, but he passed away before I was really able to appreciate his music. I changed the strings on my Ruby Rickenbacker 4003 and I played a plethora of Motorhead songs in his honor this afternoon. I seem to do this every December 24 not because it's X-Mas Eve, but to honor one of my biggest bass heroes.

Listening to Motorhead even taught me how to play rhythm guitar. I use power chords 90% of the time on rhythm guitar because of Lemmy's influence. They're fun and easy to play and they work well with my original songs.

I wrote a song about this very concept on my upcoming album. I wrote it on the day Lemmy's departed friend Ozzy Osbourne (RIP) died in July as a way to mourn and heal.

Coming up on ten years ago, my drummer from high school and his wife came out to LA to visit his brother. I had already moved a couple hours east, but I drove in to see them, and give 'em a sort of rock'n'roll places of interest tour. The eventual goal was to make it to the Rainbow in the hopes that Lemmy was holding court…I had no idea that his health had deteriorated so quickly.

The day ran late, we fininished up at Hollywood Forever Cemetery to visit Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone, but had we made it up to Sunset, it would have been disappointing and sad, assuming the news would have come down that he just died.

Other than that, I had a brief, "thumbs up" encounter with him at the balcony bar at the House Of Blues during a Motorhead gig there.
