Double Bass Lesson pay rates

The teacher I went to for all of 2 sessions charged 12.50 (random) for half an hour.

man, I am about to graduate with my undergrad degree, and I charge $10 for a half hour lesson. I just want the kids to do better, I am not in it to make a living...

That's a little condescending to say that because somebody doesn't have a degree they aren't qualified to teach. I think you shouldn't charge for the time. I think rather, you should charge for the quality of the information you teach. In the end, we are all teachers of second hand information if you really want to boil it to the core. There's really no substitute for full fledged experience. However, technique is something that is taught, then drilled. Once you know it, I believe you are qualified to help another player.
