Line 6 G50 Relay

Well, I went out and got a G50 the other day, and tried it out at a long, outdoor rehearsal today. I went to buy it at GC La Mesa, and they had one, but it clearly had been out of the store - scratches on the transmitter and stuff. My sales person was a nice young lady, fairly knowledgeable, overall good salesperson, but a little green. I said I wanted a factory fresh one, but she didn't have one, and tried to switch me to a Shure digital unit, citing their reputation and quality.

"No, I want the G50." So, I was in a good mood and said, "Tell you what - sell it to me here and I'll pick it up at San Marcos later, if they have one." They did, so she got her commission. OK, enough of that.

I used it today outdoors, and it performed as advertised. There has been some discussion in other threads about the mini-connector pulling out of the transmitter jack. I tried mine, and couldn't get it to pull out. Even so, I used one of my Shure right-angle cables and got flawless performance. No drop-out, great tone. It's size is very convenient.

This unit has the Munjibunga seal of approval, and is suitable for purchase by anyone.

Was considering either G 50 or G 90, bought G 90 replaced cable with Shure unit works great no issues , easy to set up. Same transmitter as G 50

There has been some discussion in other threads about the mini-connector pulling out of the transmitter jack. I tried mine, and couldn't get it to pull out.

the key is that as it comes, the plastic jack in the transmitter will lock the cable in just fine.

if it gets dropped or yanked too many times, the little ridge that locks the cable in gets stripped off, at which point it won't hold the cable so solidly anymore.

keep the transmitter securely mounted so it never gets yanked off the cable, and it should never develop this problem.

(+1 to getting a better cable or two for it, though.)

I too have had the L6 stock cable pull out during performances...not cool. Will be looking up a Shure Cable replacement before next show.

I'm running the G90, and asside from the cable pop out, everything else has been flawless...love it!

Another big thumbs up for the G50. I bought an upgraded cable from an Ebay vendor. The system perfoms flawlessly. I A/B'ed it with a high quality cable (George L's), and couldn't hear any difference. I've giggied it and it stands up to my abuse. One thing not mentioned is that it's super easy on batteries - the pair of AAs currently in the transmitter have 4 gigs and 3 rehearsals on them with plenty of life still left in them!

I've been using mine for 3 or so months and I like it so much better thatn the earlier X version.
