Line 6 HX series

So I'm thinking real serious about going to the HX series. My question is I currently play through a gt1b to a fender rumble 500 too a ampeg SVT 212. I want to upgrade to gt1b. Sound I go with the Hx stomp or just the Hx effects. I really like my rumble and ampeg. What do yall think?

HX Stomp is my recommendation. The way the blocks work and the ability to incorporate preamps in the signal chain open up so many possibilities for not a lot more money. You can run direct to the soundboard direct using an SVT or Noble in the HX Stomp and still be able to use your favorite amp as a monitoring system. It's nice to have options. And those are some pretty good ones. :thumbsup:

HX Effects is more like a pedalboard, with scribble strips and individual footswitches. There's not that much menus, as when you select a switch and a model, you can have all the parameters displayed at once and then you use the 3 controllers to change them. I use mine in manual mode as 6 individual pedals. I would get this one if you don't want amp sims, but it has an IR loader for cab sims. The Tech21 BDDI, Darkglass B7K and Nobels models are very good. I'm just using that direct to FOH, switching between BDDI model and analog Ampeg preamp (top left switch).

HX Stomp is more menu driven and more complex to program. But you have amp/cab sims and it's smaller than the HX Effects. I would get this one if you plan on recording also or if you already have analog pedals on your pedalboard.

Very easy to adjust the HX Effects on the fly, by just touching the switch and use the 3-knobs, it's more intuitive IMHO.

I oughta see what happens when I put my DB through my HX Stomp.

A decade ago, I was doing quite a few local gigs with Eric McFadden when he came to town and often using my DB with a number of effects - including fuzz. delay, and octave (usually with a bow). It was a thing. The crowds loved it. Eric spent many years on the road with an upright bassist doing the same thing, so I took inspiration from him. It was fun. I didn't have an HX Stomp then, but now I do.

There. I made it a DB thread.
