Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110...good deal?

I have a line on one of these. They have been out of production for a while as far as I can tell, so I'm not sure what they listed for when they were available.

I'm an older guy and right now am not gigging (though I hope to again someday.) The size and weight of this amp is appealing to me.

NOTE: I have NOT tried this amp out (it's at a pawn shop about an hour away) but the reviews I've read have been mostly positive.

I am looking for something that is a little beefier than my current puny 35-watt practice amp, and something that perhaps I can use in jam sessions and even small gigs (granted I would probably have to line out to another cab or a PA system...)

The pawn shop listed this amp on CL, and it's been up for a while. They are asking $150 for it.

Provided I can go check it out and everything works well on it, is $150 a good price?

I would, of course, start out negotiations somewhat lower...

Would appreciate anyone's thoughts, advice, suggestions or experiences with this particular amp.

Thanks!

Aaahhhh! I'm dropping off the first page...

I don't mean to be a tool; I may just get the chance to check this out very soon and I wondered if the $150 asking price was reasonable.

It's a pawn shop so I'm definitely planning on haggling. I know they've had this thing for at least a month.

I'd also like to hear from anyone who has experience/opinions on these...thanks!

Wow, I haven't seen that review for awhile. Muddslide, if it's not beat to death, both sonically and structurally, offer the pawnbroker a $100.00.

Being the amp has been out of production for at least a couple of years; if it goes up in smoke I doubt you'll repair it, and though I remember it not sounding too bad, the ten in that cab sounded boxy if memory serves me. But for a Franklin it might be a fun way to go.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I appreciate all the responses. Not sure what I'll end up doing, but I was thinking the Lowdown might fit the bill until I can get an additional cab or something.

I really need a decent amp but $$$ is going to be an issue.

I might stay on the lookout for a Rumble 350 or 500.

I love that heads and cabs and combos have gotten smaller and lighter, but I don't care so much about all the bells & whistles with regards to modeling, built in fx, etc.

I'm kind of a "plug and play caveman" I guess.

I have 2 that I came across at different times. Great amps. The DI on it is really good. I'm personally a big fan of these. I don't know if I would recommend it for what you seem to need it for. I use mine when stage volume is not needed and I need a quick portable solution.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. I use it for practice or jamming with our guitar player. Would love to use the Direct Out and use at a small gig.
I would simply reinforce what others have written. Well worth $100 - maybe less -as a practice amp (~$260 new, if memory serves) or playing in a small, acoustical setting. It does sound boxy, but that can be dealt with somewhat by twiddling the knobs. There is also a 'mystery' modeling setting (which I forget how to access) that'll make it sound like Jack Bruce's fuzzy stuff.
