Has anyone tried one of these for URB? They sound great for slab, put out a lot of volume for their size and weight, and are certainly cheap enough (around $250).

Double Bass Line 6 Lowdown Studio 1x10?

I have used one to good success for small trio and casual gigs. I don't think it could cut it with a big horn section, but it is absolutly usable for the price and weight.
I own one myself. Use it mostly as a stage monitor for DB/EUB/ABG in an acoustic duo. My only complaint is it's complexity. Also it's tendancy to color the tone of the instruments. There's really no way to run that amp flat.
For DB I really want something bone-simple.
Just picked up a used GK BL110 that I'm going to try this weekend. I like the tone of those little amps...it's just their reliability/construction quality that I've had an issue with.
We'll see how it goes.
I do agree with you on the Line 6 with a slab. My 22 year old 'berger sounds incredible with that SVT preset.

I bought one last week to use as a backup, spare, rehearsal rig etc. I took it to my steady jazz trio gig (tenor, guitar, bass) this weekend:
I used my Fishman Platinum ProEq for the tone shaping, with the Line6 as "flat" as I could figure out, and with Drive and Compressor both off. The Rock preset was probably (and ironically) the best match--rounder on the bottom, nice definition on the high end--though Clean was OK too. Plenty of volume for my gig, though I wish there were more clean preamp gain available (drive gets gritty quickly).
I also wish there were a way to turn off the modelling and run it manually; I feel that I am still hearing some signal processing, especially at the tail end of a sustained note.
Generally, the tone was acceptable, though the E string was not as coherent as with my other gear. Even arco was OK
My conclusion: it is a very useable piece of equipment for $250, and I will find occasions to gig with it, in addition to rehearsals, backup etc.
(P.S. I was very impressed with the tone with my Modulus Quantum5. I was easily able to approach the sound and punch of my GK rig. Surprising.)

I this was the model I played a few weeks ago at a festival - tiny Line 6 of some sort with my Azola EUB. Had plenty of power but couldn't find a really good tone with it. My $.0002

I've used the Line 6 with my Bugbass as well....nice sound. More like a half DB/half fretless slab really though.
The new GK worked out really well this week. Very happy with the tone...plus the amp was issue-free for Friday and Saturday nights gigs.
I'm probably going to put the Line 6 up for sale. It includes a
DTF cover as well. If anyones interested shoot me a PM.
