Line 6 X2 feedback please!

Hey guys. So I have the chance to pick up a Line6 wireless. It's the X2 rackmount system. Who has used these? How do they hold up? Is there many drop outs or a lot of interference from the digital wireless? I play in a lot of wedding venues and I had that problem happen with the Relay model...had to return it.

Firstly - Use the search function! Heaps of good info if you do... :D

I have 2 of the X2 rack versions - never had an issues with either. I picked them both up 2nd hand. 1 had the crap beaten out of it, and it still works flawlessly. The transmitters are no where near as robust as the Relay G50 transmitter (I have 1 of these also) but I have always used a Neotech pouch for my X2 transmitters. The Neoprene material it is made out of absorbs a lot of abuse. The X2 transmitters run on 9V batteries, not AA's like the Relay units.

Which Relay did you have? G30, G50, or G90?

Haha I searched and nothing specific came up but then I used my laptop and found tons of info! Damn mobile version! But it's working now. Even still, thanks for the feedback. I have the neotech pouch already so I'm all set with that. And I'm used to the 9v from past Shure models.

I had the 30 and the 50. Had to return them both. Hopefully the x2 rack works a little better for me.

Also, is $120 a fair price for one in pretty good condition? (Looks like it lived it's life racked).

In a nutshell Line 6 told me these models didn't work because of the high traffic areas I play in. Wedding venues. Apparently the digital connection was being interfered with by WiFi signals. I would stand on top of the damn thing and it would drop out every 2 notes.

I heard the X2 had less of this problem. If the tech is older, it may actually help me haha. But if it might still have this problem please tell me. That's why I started this post. For feedback on the product.

I also have an opportunity to grab a G90 at a steal of a price. I'm wondering if I should just go for it cause I can get them cheap. I read ways to avoid dropouts from WiFi hot spots etc etc, but I'm worried about wasting money on these if they don't work for me.

I have an older X2 and have never had a dropout problem, even with installed WIFI in the venue and a mobile hotspot on stage, for our singer's iPad. Because it's the stomp box sized model, I was able to sneak it onto my pedalboard and use a pedal snake to get my signal chain to the back line. Happy hunting.

I can see how a congested WiFi environment could trip up a WiFi-based wireless, especially with some of the newer routers and access points that channel-hop at needs-driven intervals. And with phones now being able to act as access points, coming in and out of range as their owners walk around... Yeah, that could turn into a real mess.

I've been using a G90 for a couple of years now, and no issues. You can set the power levels lower, so you save batteries on the xmitter. On low power I can get up to 100' from the receiver without dropouts. The G90 is by far the best unit out there.. tho' pricey for a rackmount version of the G50.. I'd grab it if you can ..
